Step 1: CLEANSE

Washing your face is the most basic and essential step of any routine. A cleanser removes the environmental pollutants that you come in contact with during the day or night. Wash twice a day, morning and night to avoid clogged pores, dullness, and acne.

FIND THE RIGHT CLEANSER:

OILY SKIN: Foaming cleanser removes excess oil and pore-clogging bacteria by morphing into an airy foam.

DRY SKIN: Hydrating cream or lotion cleanser helps restore the skin’s moisture barrier and wipe away impurities.

SENSITIVE SKIN: Oil-based cleanser is non-comedogenic, lightweight, moisturizing, and well-tolerated.

NORMAL / COMBINATION SKIN: Water-based cleanser is suitable for almost any skin type. The water-based cleanser contains molecules that attract debris and oil like a magnet without causing any dryness.

Step 2: MOISTURIZE

Your skin needs moisture to replenish the water it loses throughout the day. The most basic function of a moisturizer is to hydrate and soften the skin. Everyone needs to moisturize regardless of skin type, but the texture of your moisturizer will differ depending on skin type.

FIND THE RIGHT MOISTURIZER

OILY SKIN: Gel moisturizer is mostly water-based, lightweight, and absorbs quickly.

DRY SKIN: Cream moisturizer is more oil-based and it’s heavier than lotion.

SENSITIVE SKIN (not acne-prone): Balm moisturizer is much like a cream with heavier texture but is suitable for extremely dry skin conditions.

NORMAL / COMBINATION SKIN: Lotion moisturizer is the classic moisturizer level; it feels more moisturizing than a gel and absorbs well generally.

Step 3: SUN PROTECTION

Sunscreen is, hands down, the most crucial skin-care product. Many people only wear sun protection during what seems like the right times to do so, like a sunny day at the beach. In reality, it’s crucial to wear sun protection every day. Daily and consistent sunblock use helps to prevent the effect of photoaging (e.g., dark spots, wrinkles, fine lines and texture imperfections). People who use sunscreen as a part of their skincare regimen also reduce their risk of skin cancer.

Numerous sunscreens out on the market contain a combination of physical and chemical blocking components; these will provide protection from both UVA and UVB rays, and typically do not create any visible residue. Many moisturizers also contain sun-protection ingredients, making it easy for you to get the protection you need with just one step.

Quik-tip: Mix Quiklaser’s Moisturising Sunscreen with SPF 50 & Hyaluronic Acid into any other moisturizing / makeup product.

We suggest you apply sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every two hours.

Quik-tip: You can use a moisturizer that has at least 30 SPF and broad-spectrum protection to combine steps 2 & 3 to save even more time!

MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cleanser -> Moisturizer -> Broad Spectrum Sunscreen ( SPF 30+)

EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cleanser -> Serums / Toners / Essence / Oil / Mask / Treatments -> Moisturizer

Sounds easy and doable right? What if there’s a certain skin issue to be addressed?

First, let’s determine your skin type. This is important because different skin types have varying needs that need to be met by skincare products. You can determine your skin type by observing it throughout the day.

Dermatologists classify skin into four main types:

  1. Oily Skin: Skin that looks shiny due to an overproduction of oil.
  2. Dry Skin: Skin with dry and flakey areas that may feel tight.
  3. Sensitive Skin: Skin with red areas that are typically stingy to touch.
  4. Normal/Combination Skin: Skin that has a combination of oily and dry areas.

Most products indicate what sort of skin type they’re best for on the label, making it easy to find products suitable for you.

Let’s make it a habit!

You have all of your products ready now, it’s time to put them together into a routine for the A.M. and the P.M. Consistency is the key to everything especially when it comes to skincare, so make sure you follow these routines daily.

Since everyone has different skin types, every skincare routine is unique. Let’s say your skin is extremely dry, you might want to skip a cleanser in the morning, use just water instead. Or if you are the oily type, you can opt to only use moisturizer one time a day.

Please have patience

Let’s be real here, your skin won’t change overnight with basic home skincare. (However, laser facials often show results  in just one visit!). For the most noticeable results, aim to follow your routine for at least six weeks. Why? Human skin takes approximately six weeks to complete the cycle of renewing itself with new skin cells. You will begin to see the impact of the products you’ve been using once the cycle is complete.
